🇧🇪 Belgium: Sandra Kim Has Reportedly Already Recorded Her Rooftop Eurovision Performance

Sandra Kim is reported to have already recorded her rooftop interval act performance for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

Eurovision winner Sandra Kim won the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 for Belgium with the song “J’aime la vie”, is reported to have already recorded her rooftop interval act performance for this year show in May.

Sandra Kim was seen on social media according to Zap Télé to have travelled to Rotterdam earlier this week to record her “Rock The Roof” performance. They explained that:

It will be shown on TV all over Europe obviously, but not live because if you follow Sandra a bit on the networks, she recently posted pictures of Rotterdam. So the performance will not be live, it was recorded this week.

The EBU has not commented on whether the performances will be pre-recorded however, Helena Paparizou is also reported to be pre-recording her performance soon in Rotterdam.

Six former winners of the Eurovision Song Contest will feature as part of the “Rock The Roof” interval act in this May’s contest. The other artists are:

  • Lenny Kuhr (De Troubadour, 1969)
  • Teach-In with Getty Kaspers (Ding-a-dong, 1975)
  • Helena Paparizou (My Number One, 2005)
  • Lordi (Hard Rock Hallelujah, 2006)
  • Måns Zelmerlöw (Heroes, 2015)

The artists will be performing on rooftops across the host city of Rotterdam from the Hotel New York to the Boijmans Van Beuningen Depot museum.

Eurovision 2021

The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place on May 18, 20, and 22 in Rotterdam. A total of 41 countries will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Eurovision 2020 was due to be held in Rotterdam after Duncan Laurence gave the Netherlands their first victory since 1975 with the song “Arcade”. After the cancelation of the 2020 contest, it was decided that Rotterdam would host the 2021 contest instead.

Belgium was one of the original seven nations to participate in the first edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. To date, the country has won the contest only once in 1986. Sandra Kim won the contest with the song “J’aime la vie”, her victory was not without controversy when it emerged that Sandra was just 13 years old, two years younger than the age restriction at the time. In the late 00s, Belgium struggled in the contest failing to reach the final annually from 2005 until 2010, when Tom Dice finished 6th in the final with 143 points. Belgium has finished last at the contest six times, including two sets of nul points.
