Little Big will appear in the upcoming national selection, but the group role as competitors or guest performer still is unknown.
The Director-General of Channel One has confirmed that Little Big will take part in the national selection, but in what form it is not known. The group is due to release a new song on the day of the show called “Sex Machine”, which likely would be the song performed as an interval or one of the songs in the running to represent Russia at Eurovision 2021.
“Our viewers will see a beautiful, vibrant musical show, absolutely in the tradition and style of the Eurovision Song Contest, where they will hear several songs, see several artists who will perform these songs, and they have the least to do – dial a phone number and vote for that artist, and most importantly, the song that they like the most, ” – Yuri Aksyuta
Super.ru reported last week that the national final will not feature Little Big, with Channel One reportedly unhappy with the song the group had selected. In contrast, 360TV reported last week that Little Big was due to appear in a selection with a number of songs from which the Russian public would select. So far no official information on who will be competing in the show has been given. The current announcement does seem to indicate the group could well be one of the competing acts.
The national final is due to take place on Channel One on March the 8th at 18:00 CET. The show is due to only last for one hour meaning a short number of acts will likely be involved. Moldova’s 2021 Eurovision singer Natalia Gordienko will also perform her 2021 Eurovision entry “Sugar” as an interval act.

Russia debuted in Eurovision in 1994 and has gone on to be one of the most successful countries in the contest. Since the mid-00s Russia has had a string of strong results including their first and only victory in 2008. Dima Bilan won the contest in Belgrade, Serbia with the song “Believe” taking the contest to Moscow in the following year.
