Former CEO of PBS, John Bundy has revealed the broadcaster had to cover four countries participations fee for Junior Eurovision 2016.
The Former CEO of the Maltese public broadcaster PBS, John Bundy has revealed that the channel had to cover the costs of four nations participations fees for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2016.
PBS who were the host broadcaster of the competition in 2016 paid a total of โฌ24,000 to cover the participation costs for four of the sixteen participating countries. Mr Bundy states that originally the European Broadcasting Union stated that the agreement was for six nations participations costs.
The countries that participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 were:

- Bulgaria
- Cyprus
- Georgia
- Ireland
- Israel
- Italy
- Malta
- Netherlands
- North Macedonia
- Poland
- Russia
- Serbia
- Ukraine
Georgia won the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song โMzeoโ scoring a total of 239 points. The contest saw Israel, Cyprus and Poland all return to the competition while Montenegro, San Marino and Slovenia withdrew.
