Yakutia: Rules Out Participation in Turkvision 2020

Yakutia will not compete in the Turkvision Song Contest 2020, becoming the second Russian region confirming non-participation.

Having shown an interest in taking part in this years contest, Yakutia has opted not to compete in the online only competition. Yakutia joins the Kumyk ethnic group of Russia as stating that they have no plans to compete in the contest on December 20th.

Yakutia is one of twelve regions of the Russian Federation to have competed in the Turkvision Song Contest since 2013. On their debut in 2013 they were represented by Olga Spiridonova who failed to qualify to the final. At the 2014 contest in Kazan, Yakutia made their first final represented by Vladlena Ivanova Sakhaya with the song ‘Kyn’ finishing 7th with a total of 183 points.

Turkvision 2020

Turkvision 2020 is set to be hosted in Istanbul, Turkey on December 20 and is being held entirely online. To date the following artists have been confirmed as competing in the contest:
