An average of 2.57 million viewers watched on ProSieben as the first Free European Song Contest took place.
The Free European Song Contest was watched by an average of 2.57 million viewers in Germany. The show reached a total of 10.3 million viewers during the course of the broadcast and had a share of 11.9% of viewers for the day.
Among the younger audience between the ages of 14 to 49 years old the Free European Song Contest was watched by 19.2% of viewers. Nico Santos took victory for Spain last night commenting:
I really can’t believe this! This is my first voting victory and honestly: I never expected that. The performances by Helge Schneider, Ilse DeLange or Kelvin Jones were incredible for me and even more so I’m even happy to be the first winner in the history of the Free European Song Contest.
Sixteen artists competing in the Free European Song Contest with Nico Santos taking victory for Spain. He finished 16 points ahead of the runner up Ilse DeLange from the Netherlands.
