Elisa has won Festival da Canção 2020 and will represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song “Medo de sentir”.
Following two semi-finals, the final of Festival da Canção 2020 took place this evening in the Coliseu Comendador Rondão Almeida in Elvas. The show was hosted by Filomena Cautela, who hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, and Vasco Palmeirim. The winner was determined by 50% televote and 50% regional jury voting.
The results were as follows (jury + public vote):
- Elisa – “Medo De Sentir” (10 + 10)
- Bárbara Tinoco – “Passe-Partout” (6 + 12)
- Filipe Sambado – “Gerebera Amarela Do Sul” (12 + 4)
- Kady – “Diz Só” (8 + 7)
- Jimmy P. – “Abensonhado” (7 + 6)
- Tomás Luzia – “Mais Real Que O Amor” (3 + 8)
- Throes + The Shine – “Movimento” (6 + 5)
- Elisa Rodrigues – “Não Voltes Mais” (4 + 3)

Elisa will perform in the second half of the second semi-final on May 14.
Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest
Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 represented by Antonio Calvario, the country finished last scoring nul points. Prior to 2016, the best result of Portugal was 6th place which came in 1996 when Lucia Moniz performed in Oslo. She scored 92 points, receiving the 12 points from both Norway and Cyprus. Since their debut, Portugal have missed a total of five contests. In 2017, Portugal produced a spectacular win when Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar Pelos Dois.” The 2018 contest was held in Lisbon, Portugal for the first time.
