Mendez & Alvaro Estrella have won the audience exit poll ahead of the second semi-final of Melodifestivalen.
A total of 697 people have taken part in the audience poll following the jury show of semi-final two of Melodifestivalen. Mendez & Alvaro Estrella received just over 25% of the audience vote, while last placed Jan Johansen received just 3.4% of the vote.
The results of the exit poll were as follows:
- Mendez & Alvaro Estrella – Vamos Amigos (178 votes – 25.5%)
- Anna Bergendahl – Kingdom Come (131 votes – 18.8%)
- Daughter – Bulletproof (129 votes – 18.5%)
- Paul Rey – Talking In My Sleep (117 votes – 16.8%)
- Klara Hammarström – Nobody (63 votes – 9%)
- Linda Bengtzing – All My Sorrows (55 votes – 7.9%)
- Jan Johansen – The time of the miracles (24 votes – 3.4%)
Anna Bergendahl is one of the seven artists taking to the stage this week, Sweden’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010 and a competitor at last year’s Melodifestivalen. Former Melodifestivalen participants Linda Bengtzing, Dotter, Alvaro and Mendez will perform on Saturday night.
The final of the event will take place in the Friends Arena, in Stockholm on March 7th, preceded by the Second Chance round (Andra Chansen) in Eskilstuna on February 29th. The winner of the contest will go on to represent Sweden at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Sweden debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has gone on to be one of the contest’s most successful countries. The country has won the contest six times, the most recent being in 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice, only in 2013 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
