A total of 8,500 free tickets will be made available residents of Rotterdam, the host city of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
The city of Rotterdam has announced that a total of 8,500 tickets will be available for certain residents of the city. The tickets will enable residents to watch the go and watch second rehearsals, jury shows and all three live shows.
It is estimated that around 60,000 residents will be eligible to apply for tickets including those on low incomes, people on benefits, small entrepreneurs and others.
Applications will open for the tickets, with the lucky winners of the ballot finding out in March. Each winner will be able to bring a guest with them, this means that 4,250 tickets will be allocated a winner, with a further 4,250 tickets for a guest.
The system will ensure that tickets cannot be resold, with ticket holders only finding out where they are located when they arrive at the Ahoy. The ticket holder and guest must also identify themselves when they arrive at the arena.
Alderman Said Kasmi commented:
I hope they have an unforgettable day and make a lot of new friends. That one day they can forget their worries and just enjoy. That they can also join in with everything there is to experience in this city.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 takes place in the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on the 12th, 14th and 16th of May. The Netherlands won the right to host the competition following their win in 2019 with Duncan Laurence and the song “Arcade”.
