RTCG has confirmed that Montenegro will not be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Poland.
The Montenegrin national broadcaster has confirmed that it will not be participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Sabrija Vulic, the Head of Delegation for Montenegro explained to Eurofestivales:
We are not going to participate in the Junior Eurovision Festival 2019, the reason is that we do not have money for it.
Montenegro participated twice in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In 2014 the nation debuted and were represented by Maša Vujadinović and Lejla Vulić with the song “Budi dijete na jedan dan”, who finished 14th in the final scoring a total of 24 points.
The country made their final appearance in 2015 when the contest was held in Sofia, Bulgaria. RTCG again opted for an internal selection, picking Jana Mirković with the song “Oluja”. In the final she finished in 13th place scoring a total of 36 points, with eight points coming from both Serbia and Macedonia.
The 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held on Sunday 24th November in Gliwice, Poland. To date, eleven countries have expressed their interest in participating in the contest:
