The five choirs who will be competing next weekend to represent Wales at Eurovision Choir of the Year 2019 have been selected.
After five weeks of shows, the line up for the final of Côr Cymru 2019 has been determined, as the last category final was held. For the past month, S4C has held finals to select the best choir in each category of the competition, who will go through to the final on April 7.
The finalists are:
- Côr Ieuenctid Môn – Show Choir
- Côr Ieuenctid Môn – Children’s Choir
- Côr CF1 – Mixed Choir
- John’s Boys – Equal Voice Choir
- Ysgol Gerdd Ceredigion – Youth Choir
In the final on April 7, each of the choirs will perform for a total of 12 minutes. During the 12 minutes they must perform a varied programme, with at least one song in Welsh and no more than one in English.
The winner of Côr Cymru 2019 will be entirely decided by jury voting. The jury will be formed of a panel of international experts, with their votes determining the Welsh entrants for Eurovision Choir of the Year.
Côr Merched Sir Gâr represented Wales at the first edition of Eurovision Choir of the Year, finishing in second place. The choir was formed of pupils from seven schools in Carmarthenshire. The choir won Côr Cymru 2017 and won the right to represent Wales at the contest.
