Earlier this month, Israel Hayom reported that KAN has secured a number of past Eurovision winners as well as notable performers to take part in this year’s contest in Tel Aviv. As previously reported, Eleni Foureria is expected to take to the stage as well as Verka Serduchka who represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with “Dancing Lasha Tumbai”.
Now also reportedly confirmed as taking to the stage in Tel Aviv are the winners of the 2014 and 2015 contests. Conchita, who won the contest in Copenhagen in 2014 with “Rise Like a Phoenix”, will be joined by Måns Zelmerlöw in Israel. The two acts are the latest singers reported to have been signed by KAN for the contest.
KAN is according to the report wanting to see a fifth singer on stage as part of the act. Alexander Rybak the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, and participant in Eurovision 2018 has been contacted by KAN regarding a performance at the contest.
Israel Hayom states that the idea of the interval acts is that each of the singers will perform one of the other singers songs. For example Verka Serduchka could perform Måns Zelmerlöw’s “Heroes”, while Conchita could sing “Dancing Lasha Tumbai”.
Tel Aviv will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in the Expo Tel Aviv (International Convention Centre) on May 14, 16 and 18 2019. After receiving bids from several cities across Israel, the final two remaining candidate cities were Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. KAN recommended Tel Aviv to the Reference Group.
