Poland: 2.2 Million Viewers Watched Roksana Wegiel’s Victory

2.2 million viewers watched on TVP1 as Poland took their first victory in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk, Belarus.

A total of 2.2 million viewers watched on TVP1 as Roksana Wegiel was crowned the winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The broadcast on TVP1 began when it was revealed that Roksana had won the contest for Poland with the song “Anyone I Want To Be”.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 was originally broadcast on TVP ABC, TVP HD and TVP Polonia. The viewing figures for the broadcasts of the show on the secondary channels were as follows:

• TVP ABC – 269,610 – 1.91% share
• TVP HD – 85,140 – 0.60% share
• TVP Polonia – 63,855 – 0.44% share

This gave the contest a combined viewing total of 418,605 viewers and a market share of 2.95%.

Roksana Węgiel from Poland won with the song “Anyone I Want to Be”. She scored a total of 215 points beating runner up France by a total of 12 points. Poland came 7th in the jury vote with 79 points, but topped the online vote with 136 points.

The contest was hosted in Belarus for the second time. The hosts for the evening were Eugene Perlin, who has been the Belarusian Eurovision commentator since 2013 and Zinaida Kupriyanovich, an actress and singer who previously took part in the Belarusian Junior Eurovision selection in 2015 and 2016. Helena Maraai, last year’s Belarusian representative, was the green room presenter. Polina Bogusevich, last year’s winner, performed as an interval act.

This is Poland’s first victory in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This is also Poland’s first win in a Eurovision contest since winning Eurovision Young Dancers 2017.
