Francesca Michielin who represented Italy at Eurovision 2016 has said that she would gladly return to the contest.
Two years on from her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, Francesca Michielin has stated that she would return to the competition in the future. Speaking to the local press she said that she would “gladly” take part in the competition again, saying that the contest gave her a wealth of experience.
Francesca Michielin represented Italy at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden with the song “No Degree of Separation”. She finished 16th in the Grand Final scoring a total of 124 points, this included 34 points from the televote and 90 points from the jury vote. Italy’s best marks came in the form of two sets of 12 points from jury in France and Norway.

Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997, the country has withdrawn from the contest on a number of occasions in the past. Italy has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1964 and the latest being in 1990. Italy’s hosting of the contest in 1991 has been remembered as one of the most chaotic contests to date. Since their return in 2011 Italy has finished in the top 10 on six occasions.
