Buxtehude, the town in which Michael Schulte currently lives is set to hold a Eurovision concert to celebrate his participation in the contest.
Michael Schulte’s hometown is set to hold an open air concert and public screening of the Eurovision Song Contest, as they celebrate his participation in this years contest. Buxtehude has announced that the town will host the event to show their full support to the singer who moved to the area just over a year ago.
In February, it was decided that Michael Schulte would represent Germany at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest after winning the German national final Unser Lied für Lissabon. Over his career he released numerous singles such as “Carry Me Home” and “Thoughts”.
This year it was revealed that he was one of the six artists who would participate in the German national final show “Unser Lied für Lissabon”, with his song “You Let Me Walk Alone”. In the show, he finished in first place, receiving maximum points from both the international jury and the public televote.

Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010, when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 236 points overall. Germany has not placed above second last in their last participations.
