Bulgaria have fallen outside of the top five of the Betting Odds for the first time since the start of 2018.
Bulgaria who were the favourite to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 ahead of their song reveal have no fallen outside of the top five in the betting odds. Equinox and their song “Bones” now sit as the sixth favourite to win this years contest in Lisbon, as Australia’s Jessica Mauboy moves in to fifth.
The current top five of the betting odds is as follows:

- Estonia – Elina Nechayeva – La Forza
- Czech Republic – Mikolas Josef – Lie to Me
- Belgium – Sennek – A Matter of Time
- Australia – Jessica Mauboy – We Got Love
Late last year, Bulgaria launched its Eurovision selection. From the submissions, 13 songs were shortlisted, including their eventual selection, “Bones.” Judging panels composed of both fans and experts in the music industry helped in the selection.
The group EQUINOX is composed of five vocalists: Zhana Bergendorff, a Bulgarian singer/songwriter who won the 2013 edition of X Factor Bulgaria; Vlado Mihailov, Bulgarian singer/songwriter, the frontman of the bands Safo and Sleng; Georgi Simeonov, a Bulgarian singer, songwriter and producer who debuted in the Bulgarian boy band 032; Johnny Manuel, an American singer who gained popularity from America’s Got Talent 2017; and Trey Campbell, also an American singer who has written songs for singers like Bebe Rexha, Julie Bergen, and Alexandra Stan.
As with this year’s Austrian entry, Cesár Sampson’s “Nobody But You,” Bulgaria’s entry this year was co-produced by Symphonix International, a collective of music producers from Vienna. The writing team behind the song is made up of Borislav Milanov, Trey Campbell, Joacim Persson and Dag Lundberg. Meanwhile, Kobalt Music UK will be behind the international distribution of the song.

At the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, 17-year-old Kristian Kostov finished in second place in the Grand Final, bringing Bulgaria their best ever result. 2017 saw Bulgaria make only their third final in their Eurovision history, the first being in 2007 when Elitsa & Stoyan finished 5th with the song “Water”. Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2005. The country competed annually from 2005 to 2013, before withdrawing for two years due to financial issues.
