The final of A Dal 2018 took place on Saturday, with a series high of 487,000 viewers watching as Hungary selected their entry for Eurovision 2018.
MTVA has revealed that a total of 487,000 viewers tuned in to Duna on Saturday night to watch the final of A Dal 2018. The show brought in a viewing share of 11.8%. Overall the final was the most watched show of the series, with over 180,000 more viewers tuning in to the final than the second semi-final the week before.
The viewing figures for this years series of A Dal have been the lowest in its history. On average viewing figures each week were 87,000 viewers lower than last year, with just one show posting higher viewing figures than last year. The viewing figures for this series were as follows:
- Heat One – 405,365 – 10% share
- Heat Two – 369,481 – 9.2% share
- Heat Three – 329,291 – 8.2% share
- Semi-final One – 274,108 – 6.9% share
- Semi-final Two – 305,775 – 7.6% share
- Final – 487,000 – 11.8% share
AWS will represent Hungary at the 63rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2017 Hungary was represented by Joci Pápai with the song Origo which placed 8th in the Final.

Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest
Hungary debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, they were represented by Friderika Bayer and the song “Kinek mondjam el vetkeimet”. She went on to finish in 4th place scoring a total of 122 points and four sets of 12 points. This result remains’ Hungary’s best in their history in the contest. Hungary participated from 1994 to 1994 before withdrawing until 2005, the country didn’t return again until 2008. Hungary then once again withdrew in 2010 before returning in 2011. Since their return in 2011 Hungary has qualified for the final every year.
