UA:PBC, the Ukrainian national broadcaster, has revealed the full breakdown of the public voting from the final of Vidbir 2018, which took place last night.
The results of the public vote were:
- Mélovin: 60 669 votes (33.81% – 6 points)
- Kadnay: 33 392 votes (18.61% – 5 points)
- Tayanna: 29 830 votes (16.62% – 4 points)
- Vilna: 23 192 votes (12.92% – 3 points)
- Laud: 20 744 votes (11.56% – 2 points)
- The Erised: 11 628 votes (6.48% – 1 point)
The jury results were:
- Tayanna – 15 points (6 points)
- Mélovin – 14 points (5 points)
- Laud – 13 points (4 points)
- Kadnay – 11 points (3 points)
- The Erised – 7 points (2 points)
- Vilna – 3 points (1 point)
The overall results were:
- Mélovin – 11 points
- Tayanna – 10 points
- Kadnay – 8 points
- Laud – 6 points
- Vilna – 4 points
- The Erised – 3 points
Mélovin won the final and will represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon. He is the first male solo artist to represent his country since Oleksandr Ponomariov in 2003, on the country’s debut. His victory in Vidbir also marked the first time in Vidbir history that there was no tiebreak for first place.

Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest
Ukraine first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003, when Oleksandr Ponomariov performed “Hasta la vista”. The following year Ruslana brought the country their first win with the song “Wild Dances”. It was a feat that would be replicated in 2016 by Jamala with her song “1944”; her emotionally charged song scored a record 534 points to take victory in Stockholm. Last year O.Torvald represented the country on home soil with the song “Time”. The group finished in 24th place, Ukraine’s worst result at the contest to date.
