Tonight Romania becomes the latest nation to begin their search for their participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Romania – Selecţia Naţională 2018 – Semi-Final One – 21:00 CET
The first semi-final of the largest Romanian selection process to date takes place this evening in Focsani. Tonight’s show is the first of five semi-finals which will determine the 25 artists taking part in the final.
Taking part in the first semi-final are:

- Echoes – Mirror
- Alex Florea – Nobody Told Me It Would Hurt
- Waleska – Renacer

- Elena Turcu – The Perfect Fall
- Alexia & Matei – Walking On Water
Tom Hartis who was due to take part in tonight’s show has had to withdraw from the first semi-final due to illness. It’s not known if the singer will be allowed to take part in another semi-final.
During the semi-finals a jury will select the fifteen finalists will be selected by a jury of music professionals. On the jury are Marian Ionescu, Ilinca Băcilă, Nicu Patoi, Liliana Ştefan and Viorel Gavrilă. The jury members will vote according to the Eurovision system of points 1-8, 10 and 12.
The hosts of the show tonight are Cezar Ouatu and Diana Dumistrescu, Cezar represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

Israel – HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion – Heat Five
The final stages of the heats of HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion takes place tonight in Israel.
The last six artists who qualified from the auditions round of the Israeli selection process take to the stage tonight. The six singers are competing for just two places in the next stage of the country’s selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.
The Next Star has been used to select the Israeli Eurovision representative since 2015. This has proven successful for Israel. In 2015, Nadav Guedj gave Israel its first top 10 finish since 2005 and its first qualification since 2010 with “Golden Boy”. Israel has qualified for the final every year since then. Imri finished 23rd in this year’s final with “I Feel Alive”.
IPBC are organising the Israeli entry for the first time this year. Despite not yet achieving full EBU membership, the EBU have allowed Israel to continue participating in Eurovision events.
