Belgium has won the OGAE Video Contest 2017. The country was represented by Loïc Nottet with “Mud Blood”. Australia finished in second place and Italy finished third. This is Belgium’s second victory in the contest, after Stromae won the 2013 contest with “Papaoutai”.
The OGAE Video Contest is one of the contests held between the national branches of OGAE, the official fan club of the Eurovision Song Contest. Clubs can enter an original song and accompanying music video released in the past 12 months. Songs do not have be in an official language of the country they are representing. France and Russia both have the most victories in the history of the contest, with three victories each. This year’s contest was organised for the first time by OGAE United Kingdom, after Coldplay ft. Beyoncé won last year’s contest with “Hymn for the Weekend”.
21 countries took part in the contest. Turkey’s original entry, “Ses Etme” by Athena, was disqualified due to the video being released more than 12 months before the contest. It was replaced by the second placed entry in the Turkish selection: “Kal Bugün” by Can Bonomo.
