Netherlands: Fource Release Junior Eurovision Entry Snippet

Fource, who will be representing the Netherlands in this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest, have released a snippet of their entry for the contest.

In a video posted to the official Junior Songfestival Youtube channel, the group can be seen filming the music video for their entry at the Dam Sqaure in Amsterdam. It is currently unknown when the full song and video will be released but this is expected to happen within the next few weeks.

Fource are a group made up of Max Mies (14), Jannes Heuvelmans (14), Niels Schlimback (12) and Ian Kuyper (13). They are the first boyband to ever represent the Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. They are also the first boys to represent the country since Ralf Mackenbach in 2009, who gave the Netherlands its first, and so far only, victory in the contest.

Fource won Junior Songfestival 2017 just over a week ago with their covers of “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” by Shawn Mendes and “September Song” by JP Cooper. This year marked a return to a televised selection for the first time since 2015. Other changes to the format included contestants performing cover songs instead of original songs and 100% jury vote.

Sixteen countries will take part in the 15th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year, including returning country Portugal, who haven’t participated since 2007. The contest will take place in the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia on Sunday 26th November 2017 at 16:00 – 18:00 CET. This is the first time Georgia has hosted any Eurovision event. The sixteen countries taking part are:

• Belarus
• Cyprus
• FYR Macedonia
• Georgia
• Ireland
• Italy
• Malta
• Poland
• Portugal
• Russia
• Serbia
• The Netherlands
• Ukraine

It’s worth noting that more countries could be added to this list, as it was reported that these are the confirmed countries to date.

There has been a change in the voting rules again this year. The audience will be able to vote online, which opens on Friday 24th November, and will close on Sunday 26th November. Viewers will have to watch the recap of all the songs before they place their vote on the JESC website. The first round of voting will close at 15:59 CET on Sunday 26th November. Then, during the live show, the online voting will open again once the last performance has taken place, and will be open for 15 minutes. The final audience result will be a combination of both the pre-show and live voting results. This will then make up 50% of the final vote, with the jury voting being the other 50%.

Other changes have been made to the rules of this years contest. The amount of a song that can be performed in English has been increased to 40% of the lyrics. While the number of voices on the backing track has been increased from five to six singers.
