Finnish representatives Norma John have released a remix of their Eurovision 2017 song “Blackbird”.
Norma John, who represented Finland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine, have released a remix of their song “Blackbird”. The remix was created by Lasse, one of the two members of Norma John.
This year Finland placed 12th in the first Semi-Final with 92 points, narrowly missing out on qualifying to the Grand Final.Had the results been decided by 100% televote, Finland would have qualified in 10th with 51 points. However the jury placed the song 12th with just 41 points. Finland last qualified to the Grand Final in 2014 with Softengine.

Last month, Finland confirmed that they will not be debuting in this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The next Eurovision event Finland will be competing in will be the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Portugal. YLE have confirmed that the UMK format will be used in 2018, as seen since 2012. Since the introduction of the UMK format for Finland, they have qualified to the Grand Final twice, in 2013 and 2014.
Finland first took part in the adult Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, and has taken part a total of 51 times. They have won the contest once to date, in 2006 with Lordi and their song “Hard Rock Hallelujah”. In 2007 they hosted the contest in the capital city Helsinki.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, they debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received ‘nul points’ three times. It wasn’t until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest, Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah” scoring 292 points a record total at the time. Finland last performed in the final in 2014 when Softengine finished 11th with the song “Something Better”.
