The Netherlands: Viewing Figures Expected To Take A Hit

Viewing figures for the second-semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 are expected to take a hit this evening in the Netherlands.

Tonight’s second semi final is expected to take a hit in terms of viewing figures in the Netherlands tonight. As OG3NE compete to make it through to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine, Ajax will be playing against Lyon in the UEFA Champions League Semi-Final. The match is taking place for the same period of time as tonight’s broadcast.

The European Broadcasting Union attempts to schedule the contest to avoid clashes with major sporting events, however overlaps often occur. This years contest is also overlapping with the Men’s World Ice Hockey Championships in Cologne, Germany.

The Netherlands internally selected girl group O’G3NE to represent them at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Amy, Lisa and Shelley Vol have been performing with each other for over a decade, and have even taken part in a Eurovision event before – The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007, with their song “Adem In, Adem Uit”.

To date the Netherlands has won the contest on four occasions the latest being in 1975. The countries best result since 1975 occurred in 2014 when The Common Linnets finished 2nd in Copenhagen with a total of 238 points, 52 points behind Austria.
