Speaking to an Australian journalist in today’s press conference, Slavko from Montenegro answered “at what age did you first realise you wanted to perform, and how did you decide that this is your style?”, Slavko discussed his stage presence, influences, and how he became the artist he is today.

“It was ten years ago exactly when I got my first role at the national theatre, almost like an ‘after-academy’. My first role in the Montenegrin national theatre was the role of like diva meets opera and it was very heavy because I’d never been in such a place, I’d never received any qualifications for acting, and it was a role that for three months would have very hard going rehearsals. I would learn to be in heels, for example, to sing like a diva I had a song to rehearse to a specific song and I worked hard to prepare for the specific part. After three months, when we had the premiere, the people from the national theatre were so, so proud and so satisfied, and after that, I became a permanent member of the theatre. So ten years ago, okay, I’d been doing my arts, learning to be in a position of diva-opera, that strange style – but for me it’s like, I’m a professional actor, all of this transformation in my appearance as for the role being played by the actor. In my private life, I’m a normal guy, I walk the streets. But when I’m on the stage, I adore transforming myself and playing a new role. Whether I’m an inspector, doctor, lover, bird, flower, you know – that’s for the stage.” – Slavko (Montenegro).

Today, Slavko took to the stage for the first time to rehearse his entry for Montenegro, ‘Space’. The performance seen on stage today was very much in line with what was expected. Slavko’s signature ponytail was worn, as were shiny trousers and a semi-transparent shirt. The performance contained bright lights to match the upbeat track.
