The three backing singers who will be joining Jacques Houdek at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine have been named.
Three backing singers have been selected to join this years Croatian Eurovision participant, Jacques Houdek at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. The three backing singers are:
- Alen Đuras – Winning member of Jacque Houdek’s team on the second season of the Voice of Croatia, he finished third in the final of the contest.
- Edgar Rupena – 34-year-old singer who finished second in the second season of the Voice of Croatia. He has been performing since he was 18 years old and performs a mix of styles and genres.
- Matija Cvek – Matija is an up and coming young Croatian singer who has been working as a backing vocalist for a number of years before persuing a solo career.
35-year old Jacques will be singing “My Friend” at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He was born in Zagreb, and has been singing professionally since 2002. Since then he has won countless awards in Croatia for his music, and is currently serving as a mentor on the Voice. During the first season of the show he mentored Nina Kraljić, who went on to represent Croatia in last year’s contest in Stockholm. Jacques himself has tried to represent Croatia several times in the past, the most recent attempt being in 2011 when he finished in 2nd place to Daria Kinzer in Croatia’s national final.
For his performance in Kyiv it has been announced that his outfit has been designed by Marco Falcioni who is the Chief Designer at Hugo Boss. The outfit according to Jacques will be very discreet appearance and incorporate black, white and silver colors. He is also joined on stage by violinist Antun Stašić and cellist Emanuel Pavon.

Croatia’s best result came in 1999 when Doris Dragovic finished 4th in Jerusalem. She performed the song “Marija Magdalena” which scored a total of 118 points, this included 12 points from Slovenia and Spain. Croatia returned to the contest in 2016 having withdrawn after the 2013 contest due to a string of poor results and financial difficulties.
