Viet Dang has been announced as the Choreographer for Switzerland’s entrants in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Timebelle.
Viet Dang is an internationally known Hip Hop dancer, dance teacher and choreographer. Ethnically Vietnamese and raised in Switzerland, Viet has danced at the Grammy Awards, the MTV European Music Awards, AMA’s for artist such as Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, Muse. He has also danced in Music Video for Stars like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, No Doubt, Nelly Furtado etc.
Viet Dang has also worked as an assistant choreographer for U.S. singer and top star Ke$ha for the Swiss Music Award’s. Internationally the dancer has also worked on the television show “So You Think You Can Dance” in Poland as a choreographer as well as work with music videos in Switzerland and beyond.
Timebelle won the Swiss selection process at the start of February with “Apollo” topping the public televote with 47.88% of the overall vote. They beat runner-up Nadya by just under 30% of the vote. Apollo returned to the Swiss selection process having narrowly missed out on representing the country in Vienna, Austria in 2015 when Melanie Rene won with “Time To Shine”.
Timebelle are a three-piece band from Bern, consisting of lead vocalist Miruna Manescu, drummer Samuel Forster, and saxophonist, clarinettist and pianist Emanuel Daniel Andriescu. Both Manescu and Andriescu are Romanian, as is their manager Mihai Alexandru. Mihai himself has a history with Eurovision, having competed in Romania’s national selection several times since 1992. In 2003, his song “Don’t Break My Heart”, sung by Nicola, represented Romania in Riga, placing 10th.
