Jamala, winner of last year’s Eurovision Song Contest, will perform in the interval of Semi-Final One in this year’s Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Host broadcaster UA:PBC has revealed details regarding the interval acts for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, in Kyiv, Ukraine next month. Winner of last year’s contest, Jamala, will be performing in the interval of Semi-Final One on Tuesday 9th May, and in the final on Saturday 13th May. Her Semi-Final performance will feature her song “Lured”, as well as a revamp of her winning song “1944”. Her Grand Final performance will premiere her new single “I Believe In U”.
Jamala had recently finished recording the official music video for her new single “I Believe in U” in Portugal, showing multiple locations around the country. Eurovision.tv has also announced that she will be performing at the Kyiv Sports Palace on Friday 12th May, performing songs from her most recent album alongside The Voice of Ukraine participants.
Earlier this week it was revealed that ONUKA would also be performing in the interval of the Grand Final. The announcement came via an update on the groups Facebook page revealing that they will be performing at the Eurovision Song Contest on May 13th. ONUKA will be performing as the interval act in the Grand Final, following the likes of Justin Timberlake, Riverdance and Madcon.
ONUKA’s music is:
“the bridge between the past and the future. The rich heritage of Ukrainian ethnic culture in the context of modern electronic sound acquires the weight, status аnd nobility, that has always been inherent to Ukrainian musical tradition.”
A total of 42 countries are to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Returning to the Eurovision stage are Portugal and Romania who both took a year out from the contest. Bosnia & Herzegovina and Russia have however withdrawn from the contest. Bosnia & Herzegovina has withdrawn due to financial difficulties at the national broadcaster, BHRT. While Russia has withdrawn following Julia Samoilova being banned by Ukrainian Authorities from entering Ukraine. The 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is being held on the following dates:
- Semi Final 1 – 9 May
- Semi Final 2 – 11 May
- Final – 13 May
