RTVE has announced that Nieves Álvarez will announce the results of the Spanish jury in the final of Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The model and television presenter Nieves Álvarez has been revealed as the Spanish spokesperson for this years Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine. Nieves is known in Spain for being the presenter of the La 1 show “Flash Moda”. Speaking about taking on the role, she added:
I am looking forward to it with a lot of enthusiasm, also with a few nerves. For me it is an honor that RTVE has thought of me, they have done it before very great presenters whom I admire. I’ve always been a follower of the Festival. It’s a classic and a fantastic showcase for exporting our country,
The commentators for this years contest were also announced by the Spanish national broadcaster. José María Íñigo returns to the commentary both for an eighth time having first commentated at the 2011 contest. He will be joined for the third year running by Julia Varela.
Manel won the Spanish selection show Objetivo Eurovision 2017 after tying with Mirela, with a total of 54 points each. In the end, the jury controversially had the final say and selected Manel to represent Spain in Kyiv, Ukraine. The final of Objetivo Eurovision 2017 was the least watched Spanish national final for over 10 years, with just 1.449 million viewers watching the show. Viewing figures have been falling annually since over 2.6 million viewers watched the final of the Spanish selection in 2010.
Manel Navarro is 20 years old and first rose to fame regionally when he won Catalunya Teen Star in 2014. In 2015 he signed with Sony Music Spain and went on to go viral on Spotify with the song “Candle”, the song went on to be played over 1 million times.
