ESC’17: Semi Finals Running Order Announced

The running order for the two semi finals at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 have been revealed today by the EBU & UA:PBC.

The running order for the competition is decided by the producers of the show. The producer lead running order is intended to ensure that each song has the opportunity to stand out. At the end of January the running order draw was held which decided in which half of each semi final, the countries competing in the semi finals will perform.

Sweden and Serbia will open their respective semi finals, both a high energy pop songs and will provide an energetic start to the show. Again high energy songs have been chosen to close the two semi finals with Latvia and Israel drawn in the final slots of each semi final.

The running order of Semi Final One:

  1. Sweden
  2. Georgia
  3. Australia
  4. Albania
  5. Belgium
  6. Montenegro
  7. Finland
  8. Azerbaijan
  9. Portugal
  10. Greece
  11. Poland
  12. Moldova
  13. Iceland
  14. Czech Republic
  15. Cyprus
  16. Armenia
  17. Slovenia
  18. Latvia

The running order of the Semi Final Two:

  1. Serbia
  2. Austria
  3. Russia
  4. FYR Macedonia
  5. Malta
  6. Romania
  7. The Netherlands
  8. Hungary
  9. Denmark
  10. Ireland
  11. San Marino
  12. Croatia
  13. Norway
  14. Switzerland
  15. Belarus
  16. Bulgaria
  17. Lithuania
  18. Estonia
  19. Israel

The running order for the Grand Final will be decided after the second semi final has taken place. During the week of the shows the Big Five: France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom will draw the half in which they will perform. After each semi final the ten qualifiers will also draw the half of the show that they will perform.

A total of 43 countries are to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Returning to the Eurovision stage are Portugal and Romania who both took a year out from the contest. Bosnia & Herzegovina has however withdrawn from the contest due to financial difficulties at the national broadcaster, BHRT. Ukraine is hosting this years contest thanks to the victory of Jamala with the song “1944” in Stockholm, Sweden. The 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is being held on the following dates:

  • Semi Final 1 – 9 May
  • Semi Final 2 – 11 May
  • Final – 13 May
