Armenia: Public TV of Armenia Unaware of Any Investigation Into Artsvik

The Armenian national broadcaster has stated they are unaware of any investigation by Ukrainian Authorities into their participant, Artsvik.

Armenpress reports that the Armenian national broadcaster has not received any written statement from Ukrainian about a reported investigation into the countries singer Artsvik. Russian media has reported today that Artsvik, this years Eurovision entrant from Armenia, is being investigated by Ukrainian Security Services over an alleged visit to Crimea while it has been under Russian control.

According to reports in the Russian media, Anton Geraschenko and advisor to the Minister of Internal Affair of Ukraine, has confirmed that an investigation is underway into Artsvik. If the reports are true, then should Artsvik be found to have visited Crimea while under Russian control, she may be refused entry into Ukraine for this years Eurovision Song Contest.

It is understood that the Russian participant in this years Eurovision Song Contest, Yulia Samoilova is also under investigation by Ukrainian authorities. The singer has performed in Crimea since the territory came under Russian control in 2014. It is at the discretion of the Ukrainian Security Services as to whether Yulia will be allowed to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

32-year-old Artsvik was selected on December 24 to represent Armenia at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Before participating in Depi Evratesil, Artsvik had participated in the Russian edition of the Voice. In the second season of the contest she was selected by Pelageya to join her team. She went on to be knocked out in the Battle Rounds.
