This May, Greece will be represented by female soloist Demy at the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Dimitris Kontopoulos has prepared three songs to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest, only one of which will actually be chosen when performed in Greece’s national selection on March 6th. All three songs are being performed in English, each song will be in a different style with one being a dance track and another a ballad, the style of the third song she said will be a surprise. Earlier this month, Demy recorded parts of her national selection entries with the ERT Orchestra.

Dimitris is a well-known composer and producer, especially when it comes to the Eurovision Song Contest having written six entries to date including ‘You Are the Only One’ by Sergey Lazarev for Russia last year and ‘Shady Lady’ by Ani Lorak for Ukraine in 2008. Earlier this week Sergey Lazarev and Ani Lorak visited the studio of Dimitris Kontopoulos to listen to the three possible entries. Ani Lorak is said to have described one of the three songs as a “beautiful composition”.

The three songs competing in the selection have now been given names, revealed ahead of the selection on March 6th.

The music videos for the three competing songs have been filmed in Odessa, Ukraine. Odessa has been chosen as the location for the video clips, not only due to its location within the host country of this year’s contest, but also due to its Greek elements.

Demy is a 25-year-old singer born in Athens, Greece. The singer’s first release “Μia Zografia” came in 2011 and immediately shot to popularity in Greece and Cyprus, the song was performed alongside “Μidenistis”. The singer’s first solo single was released in 2012, titled “Poses Xiliades Kalokairia” it featured on her debut album titled “1”, the album topped the charts in Greece. To date, she has released two albums and performed on 19 singles.

It was just three years later when the country had their first top.5 finish with Paschalis, Marianna, Robert and Bessy coming 5th with “Mathima solfege”. In 2001 Greece achieved their first top.3 result with Antique and the song “I Would Die For You”, the song became a European hit charting across the continent. In 2005 Helena Paparizou returned to the Eurovision stage this time as a solo artist and took Greece to victory in Kyiv. Her song “My Number One” won with 230 points, beating runners-up Malta by 38 points.
