Hungary’s Eurovision selection show A Dal has hit a new low in terms of viewing figures this year.
With the final of Hungary’s Eurovision selection show A Dal 2017 coming up next weekend, reports have shown that the viewing figures have hit a new low this year. Both A Dal semi-final one and semi-final two didn’t make it into the top 20 most viewed TV shows for their respective weeks.In the 20th spot is “Castle”, which received 443,342 views, meaning that A Dal received even less than that. Heat 3 of A Dal reached viewing figures of 489,551 a few weeks ago, which is a series high so far. It is expected that viewing figures will increase for the final show.
Compared to previous years, viewing figures for A Dal have been decreasing as years go on. For example, here are the viewing figures for the third heat, year-by-year:
- 2017 – 489,551 viewers – 11.3% share – 16th most watched show of the week
- 2016 – 593,586 viewers – 13.5% share – 12th most watched show of the week
- 2015 – 669,253 viewers – 15.7% share – 15th most watched show of the week
- 2014 – 796,441 viewers – 16.9% share – 10th most watched show of the week
- 2013 – 911,104 viewers – 19.7% share – 16th most watched show of the week
The final of A Dal 2017 will take place on Saturday 18th February, in the Hungarian capital Budapest. The winner of the contest will be decided by jury/public televote split. Here are the 8 acts taking part in the final:

She went on to finish in 4th place scoring a total of 122 points and four sets of 12 points. This result remains’ Hungary’s best in their history in the contest. Hungary participated from 1994 to 1994 before withdrawing until 2005, the country didn’t return again until 2008. Hungary then once again withdrew in 2010 before returning in 2011.
