Spain: Jury Members For Objetivo Eurovision Announced

The jury members for Spain’s Eurovision selection show Objetivo Eurovision 2017 have been announced today.

Spanish broadcaster RTVE have revealed the 3 jury members for their Eurovision selection show Objetivo Eurovision 2017. The jury will make up 50% of the final vote in the show to choose Spain’s next Eurovision entry. The public have the remaining 50% of the vote. It has also been revealed today that in the case of a tie, the jury will be the ones to decide who have won. The 3 jury members all have careers in TV and radio, and have programs on popular Spanish radio stations, such as RTVE.

The 3 members of the jury are:

  1. Xavi Martinez
  2. Javier Cárdenas
  3. Virginia Díaz

Six entrants will be competing to win the Eurovision ticket on the 11th February. The show will start at 22.05 CET and it’ll be aired online on rtve.es as well.

Spain was drawn to vote in the first semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest along with the other Big 5 countries like Italy and the United Kingdom.

The running order of the Spanish national final Objetivo Eurovision is as follows:

  1. Manel Navarro – “Do it for your lover”
  2. Leklein – “Ouch!!”
  3. Paula Rojo – “Lo que nunca fue”
  4. Mario Jefferson – “Spin my head”
  5. Maika – “Momento critico”
  6. Mirela – “Contigo”

Spain has won the contest on two occasions the first being in 1968 and the second time in 1969. 1969 is the only year where more than one song has won the contest, the 1969 contest saw a four-way tie between Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Since 2000 Spain has only managed to finish in the top.10 on five occasions, the last time being in 2014 with Ruth Lorenzo. However, the country has finished 20th or below on eight occasions, the worst placement being 25th in 2013.
