It has been reported that the grand final of Eesti Laul, which is set to take place on 4th March, has now officially sold out.
This year marks the second time that Tallinn’s Saku Areena will host Eesti Laul. Since 2010, with the exception of 2013, the grand final was always held in the comparably smaller Nordea Concert Hall which can hold up to 1,830 people. When the show moved to the Saku Areena last year, its 5,500 capacity was a definite step up and a sign that Eesti Laul was expanding and gaining in popularity.
Mart Normet, the Executive Producer of Eesti Laul has stated how thrilled he is that the show has sold out so quickly, and that the organisers now have an even greater responsibility to create a “powerful show”. He added that we can also expect the usual comedic sketches throughout the show, and the typical “mean Eesti Laul humour” from hosts Märt Avandi and Ott Sepp.
For those wanting to see the show live, tickets for the dress rehearsal of the grand final are still available to buy, and producer Ermo Säks has claimed that the show will be identical to the final itself.
This year’s Eesti Laul will hope to find a song capable of taking them to the grand final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, after Jüri Pootsmann’s “Play” finished last in its semi-final last year in Stockholm. They will compete in the second half of the second semi-final on Thursday 11th May.
