An generated image of potential Eurovision Song Contest stage design for 2017 has been leaked online ahead of tomorrow’s semi final allocation draw. Though the validity of the image is yet to be confirmed, the images are almost undoubtedly produced by the same company chosen to design this year’s stage – the concept stage also appears to fit exceedingly well with the features and shape of the International Exhibition Centre, Kyiv Ukraine, where this year’s contest will be hosted.

The stage design features one main stage which appears to be back by a LED panel, as well as a secondary island stage among the audience. An island stage at the Eurovision Song Contest has not been seen since the 2013 contest in Malmo, which was connected to the may stage by a long curving catwalk. The circular stage design and lighting rig above pictured is reminiscent of Düsseldorf in 2011, which was one of the most imposing and impressive stages the contest has seen in the past decade.

Florian Wieder is set to be the designer of the stage for the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. In total four bids were received for the contract, two were from Ukrainian firms and two from international firms. The decision to award the contract to Wieder Design was taken by the organising committee for next years contest.

Wieder Design was established in 1995 and has to date created the stages for three editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. He created the stages for the 2011, 2012 and 2015 contests and has worked on projects such as X Factor in the United Kingdom and USA as well as Got Talent. The stage that Mr Wieder and his team design will be revealed in February.

Mr Weider said:

“I love the idea behind Eurovision Song Contest. So many different countries and cultures come together in peace to celebrate this event that’s what truly excites me. The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most exciting projects of my career. There are only a few like this in the world, so it is a huge honor for me to be the designer for this years show in Kyiv.”

Victoria Romanova the Executive Producer of the contest added that:

“The stage is one of the most important elements of the show. Viewers’ impressions about the contest depend on its look and functionality. Therefore, we have engaged the world’s best experts to develop the stage design.”

National Television Ukraine are yet to comment on the stage design and release official images.

Melodifestivalen Stage Revealed Last Week

Just over one week remains until SVT’s flagship show, Melodifestivalen, returns. Clara Henry, Hasse Andersson and David Lindgren take on the task of introducing twenty-eight of Sweden’s biggest name to a stage like no other – a stage once again designed by Viktor Brattström. Brattström previously designed the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, Stockholm, the stage used to open Friends Arena back in 2012, and last year’s Melodifestivalen stage.

This year, the focus is on the placement of light. Lighting has been the number one priority which, in turn, has led to a more “futuristic look”.
