ARD have reported that auditions for Germany’s 2017 Eurovision selection show have started to be held across Germany.
Whilst the deadline for applications do not close until 18 November, applicants have already faced judges in Hamburg and Cologne. The top 30 acts from the first round will make it through to the second round of auditions, with the top 5 from this round appearing in 2017’s edition of Unser Song.
Despite being in competition with each other, the acts in Hamburg and Cologne appeared to be highly supportive of each other. One act, Dennis Minden, claimed that whilst he wanted to impress the judges, he knew that the standards were high and that he just wanted to have fun. Another artist, Julia Hempe, claimed that it would be an honour to represent her country in Kyiv and that she “would do anything” for the opportunity to do just that.
Germany’s selection show will take place on 9 February 2017.
