Germany will change their approach to the Eurovision Song Contest selection process for 2017.
Thomas Schreiber the Head of Entertainment at NDR has stated that the selection process next year will focus on finding songs for the contest ahead of finding the singer. NDR will be searching both within Germany and internationally for songs to compete in the 2017 selection process. Mr Schreiber confirmed that the German public will still decide who will represent them at the 2017 contest.
Germany has had a string of poor results since 2013, with the country finishing last in the contest two years in a row. Mr Schreiber added that he recognised that many artists in Germany would not participate in the contest due to either negative perceptions of it, or not wanting to be voted on by the public.
