The Head of Delegation for Spain has called for a fairer voting method following Spain’s 22nd place finish at Eurovision 2016.
Federico Llano has said that the voting system that was introduced this year does not work for countries lower down in the results. The comments come as he defended RTVE’s approach to thsi years contest and questioned why Russia finished so highly in the contest. Regarding the newly introduced voting system he stated that it is:
Very fair and clear to decide the winner, the top 5 and even top 10, but from there, it is no longer useful because the votes of neighboring countries mark up and down each other .
Mr Llano has now shifted his focus to 2017, saying that he is once again looking for young talent with innovative proposals like Barei.
