  1. Everyone is complaining about the jury, again. That’s just so childish. Anyway, I’m so glad that Ukraine won!

  2. Congratulations Ukraine! Very well deserved: this had the total package of an amazing composition; a talented singer; great staging and a powerful backstory. Australia should also be proud of Dami; hopefully their 2nd place encourages the EBU to give Australia a permanent space in the contest. While I admire Segey for the amount of work he put in his performance, I am honestly very glad Russia didn’t win. I feel a Russian win would drag the contest back to the ‘dark days’ of 2004-8. The performer was great but the song wasn’t. I also personally don’t really care for all the special effects many countries felt inspired to use this year. It worked really well with Sweden 2015, but with Russia it felt overdone and too much. I would also like to give a special mention to Hungary, Latvia and Spain. All three countries sent amazing songs with equally amazing artists. I am honestly really upset that all three pretty much flopped on the night, despite consistently great performances. If you look at the televoting, Hungary didnt actually do that bad. It came 14th. I feel if Hungary got Malta’s, or even Poland’s, draw in the running order, Freddie could have cracked the top 10 in televoting. While I do support the jury system, this year really did highlight major flaws with the system. The Swedish jury awarded 10 points to Azerbaijan. Don’t get me wrong, I love the country and song, and personally think Samra is hot and a very nice person. But there’s no denying her vocals were mediocre, at best. I really don’t see how the juries overall could have ranked Samra over the Czech Republic or Serbia. As well as that, several points difference between Hungary/ Latvia and Azerbaijan highlights the confusing criteria of the juries. Azerbaijan having a Swedish-produced song really did benefit them in the jury vote and did lead to a higher than expected ranking. Just a though. Okay, essay over. Well done Sweden! Great show, great songs and performances.
