The flag rules have been relaxed

The European Broadcasting Union has relaxed the rules for flags at this years after the controversy that the previous rules caused.

The EBU has now stated that national, regional and local flags of the participants will be allowed to be flown at the contest this year, meaning that the likes of the Sami and Welsh flags are now allowed to fly at the contest. The EBU has now also said that it will tolerate flags from the likes of Kosovo as long as they are not used to make a political statement and do not block camera views.

There had been calls from a number of countries over the past week to removed the previous rules including Palestine, Spain and Wales.
