The European Broadcasting Union has confirmed this morning that PRO TV will not be able to broadcast Eurovision 2016.
PRO TV a privately owned television channel in Romania had approached the EBU to purchase the rights to broadcast Eurovision 2016. In a statement put out onto Twitter the EBU states that:
Pro TV aren’t Members of EBU & Eurovision is a competition between Members & Associates, therefore we can’t take up offer to broadcast.
Romania were forced to withdraw from Eurovision 2016 after TVR the national broadcaster of the country was removed from the EBU due to 16 million Swiss Francs worth of debt.
