Israel: Hovi Star to the Eurovision Song Contest

Israel have chosen Hovi Star to represent them at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest

Tonight, it was Israel’s choice to decide their artist for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Four artists competed in the final of HaKokhav HaBa L’Eirovizion, Israel’s national selection format. The performers were divided into duels in the first round were they sang cover versions of songs.  Three artists progressed to the final round; the jury chose on artist to advance and the other places were decided by public voting. The results of this were follows:

DUEL 1

Ella Daniel – “Happy” by Pharrell Williams (JURY CHOICE)

Hovi Star – “Stay with Me” by Sam Smith (PUBLIC CHOICE WITH 79% OF VOTE)

DUEL 2

Gil Hadash – “The show must go on” by Queen (ELIMINATED)

Nofar Salman – “Mangina” by Eden Ben Zaken (PUBLIC CHOICE WITH 76% OF VOTE)

In the final round, the remaining three artists sang their candidate Eurovision entries which they chose to perform. The winner was chosen solely by public voting in this round. The results and the amount of votes each artist received were as follows:

  1. Hovi Star – “Made of Stars” (68%)
  2. Nofar Salman – “Made of Stars” (67%)
  3. Ella Daniel – “Somebody out there” (58%)

After a close battle between Hovi Star and Nofar Salman, Hovi Star will represent Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Made of Stars”.

Israel will perform in the first half of the second semi-final on Thursday 12th May in Stockholm, Sweden
