Australia: Would Return With A Bigger Name Singer

Paul Clarke of SBS Australia told the Eurovision Song Contest workshop that if they came back they’d return to the contest with a bigger name singer.

Paul Clarke told the workshop yesterday in Berlin that:

For us, Australia was riding on a wave of growing excitement for Eurovision and we wanted to deliver something authentic so we chose a big artist. If we were ever invited again we’d go for an even bigger one – dream big – the show is so big.

Australia have been pushing to be allowed to participate in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Australia debuted in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest as part of celebrations of the 60th edition of the song contest. They were represented by Guy Sebastian and his song “Tonight Again”, Australia finished 5th in the final with a total of 196 points.

The EBU has gone from when the country were first announced as participating in the 2015 contest to being more open to allowing Australia to return to the Eurovision Song Contest in the future. Furthermore SBS was invited to participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 despite the contest not celebrating any anniversary.
