Spend Valentine’s weekend with your true love: Eurovision

The national finals of four countries will be aired this weekend. Broadcasters of Europe will be putting on three final shows to determine acts that will go to the Eurovision Song Contest. Additionally, in one instance, a song will be chosen ahead of its corresponding artist.

Iceland – Söngvakeppnin – Tonight – 20:45CET
The final tonight shall see participants performing in the hope of representing this island nation in Vienna. Two semi-finals have been held, taking twelve artists down to seven. The finalists and their running order are:
  1. Cadem – Fyrir Alla
  2. Sunday – Fjaðrir
  3. Björn og félagar – Piltur og stúlka
  4. María Ólafsdóttir – Lítil skref
  5. Elín Sif Halldórsdóttir – Í kvöld
  6. Friðrik Dór – Í Síðasta skipti
  7. Haukur Heiðar Hauksson – Milljón augnablik
In the first half of the programme, two qualifiers will be selected from a 50/50 televote and jury vote. The jury comprises:
  •  Einar Bárðarson (radio host)
  • Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir (2009 Eurovision representative)
  • Sigríður Thorlacius (singer)
  • Stefán Hilmarsson (singer)
  • Valdimar Guðmundsson (singer)
 These two artists will go through to a superfinal. The superfinalists will then perform their song in their chosen language – either in Icelandic or English. Cadem, Sunday, María Ólafsdóttir, Elín Sif Halldórsdóttir and Friðrik Dór will perform in English; and Haukur Heiðar Hauksson and Björn og félagar will perform in Icelandic – should they advance to the superfinal. The winner of the superfinal will be crowned by the public televote.

Winner gets first refusal
 Italy – Sanremo – Tonight – 20:00 CET
The final of the 65th Sanremo festival takes place tonight. A total of 16 artists will competing in the ‘Campioni’.
The winner of the Campioni round will get first refusal on taking part in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. If the winning artist declines the offer to go to Eurovision, it will be down to the Italian delegation to choose between the remaining participants in tonight’s show.
In the final are:

  • Grazia di Michele e Platinette – Io sono una finestra
  • Nina Zilli – Sola
  • Annalisa – Una finestra tra le stele
  • Irene Grandi – Un vento senza nome
  • Lorenzo Fragola – Siamo uguali
  • Nesli – Buona fortuna amore
  • Moreno – Oggi ti parlo così
  • Bianca Atzei – Il solo al mondo
  • Chiara – Straordinario
  • Alex Britti – Un attimo importante
  • Gianluca Grignani – Sogni infranti
  • Malika Ayane – Adesso e qui
  • Marco Masini – Che giorno è
  • Il Volo – Grande amore
  • Dear Jack – Il mondo esplode

Three Become One
Three become one
 Serbia – Countdown To Vienna – Sunday – 21:00 CET
 The Serbian Eurovision return incorporates a one-show selection process, which will happen this evening. As is typical for Serbian Eurovision songs, the entries will be performed in the national language. Before being judged by a 50/50 televote and jury vote, three artists will each perform their song:
  • Danica Krstić – U ime ljubavi
  • Bojana Stamenov – Ceo svet je moj
  • Aleksa Jelić – Vodi me

A Song Is To Be Picked
A song is to be picked

Lithuania – Eurovizijos – Tonight – 20:00 CET

It was very recently announced that the three songs, between which Lithuania’s Eurovision entry will be selected, are:

  • Dangerous (S.O.S)
  • The Right Way
  • This Time
 All of these songs have been perfomed several times in the recent weeks of Eurovizijos, by various artists. The final three artists (Mia, Monika Linkytė and Vaidas Baumila) will not be narrowed down tomorrow – this will happen next week. Mia, Monika and Vaidas will perform each song individually tonight. Lithuania’s Eurovision entry will then be chosen by a jury and the voting public.
