This Saturday sees the final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2015 in Denmark. We caught up with Tina and René who will be singing “Mi Amore” on Saturday night, here is what the duet had to say:
How does it feel to know you could be representing Denmark at this years Eurovision Song Contest?
We are very happy and feel very honored that so many people in Denmark and the rest of Europe really like our song and wants us to win. We have a very good feeling about Mi Amore and we are so excited about being in the competition. It would be amazing and a dream come true for us to sing the song at Eurovision.
You’ve (Tina) said that when you were 13 you sent off demos to a number of record labels and that to your surprise Sony Music came back with the idea of a girl group, despite the fact this never happened, what effect did having that boost of confidence in your ability have on you?
It gave me confidence and It really made me believe in myself and my talent at a young age. I have always loved to sing and write songs so it’s something i will never stop doing. Music is my passion and right now I am living my dream. I hope to continue in the business for many years to come and release new songs.
Before taking part in DMGP you have released a number of singles, what was it like to finally get your music break through?
Participating in Melodi Grandprix is a really good way to get my music out to a big audience and it feels great to be recognized for something I have worked hard for in many years. It is amazing how well “Mi Amore” has been received.
You will be singing alongside Rene Machon, how did the duet come into being?
It all started when Tina was invited to a studio in Copenhagen to sing the song “Mi Amore”. The team behind “Melodi Grandprix” really loved her voice and thought it was perfect for “Mi Amore” and therefore she was chosen to sing the song. After that René went to the studio to record the song and everyone agreed that he was the right person to sing the song together with Tina.
He has an awesome voice and we are a good team together. We hope the audience will feel our good chemistry.
Your song is called “Mi Amore”, can you tell us more about it?
“Mi Amore” is a real powerballad. It is about forgiveness and about telling the person you love how you feel and how much you adore that person. It is the ultimate love song. The lyrics is something everyone can relate to and we really feel the song when we are singing it.
“Mi Amore” is partially produced by the famous Thomas G:son, what is it like to work with him?
It was a true pleasure to work with G:son and Henrik Sethsson as well. We are very fortunate to have such an experienced team behind us. We flew to Stockholm to record the song at their studio and there we met them for the first time. They are both really sweet and down- to-earth guys doing what they love to do: write music. They are funny as well and we had the best time in the studio when we recorded the song.
At the minute your song is one of the favourites to win the contest, how does that feel?
It feels really good to be one of the favorites. We promise to do everything we can to give the best performance and show possible. We are so excited and can’t wait.
What will it mean to you to be performing in front of the Danish public and viewers from across the world in the DMGP final?
It is a dream coming true for both of us and we are very proud to have been chosen to sing this song.
To conclude, do you have anything you’d like to say to the readers of Eurovoix.com?
We wanna say thank you so much to Eurovoix.com for supporting “Mi Amore” It means so much to us! Keep sharing the song and positive energy and we hope to perform for you all in Austria for Eurovison 2015!!
