RTE the Irish national broadcaster has made an open call for Eurovision 2015 songs. RTE has scrapped the mentor system which has been used in previous years and is returning to the open national selection format used in 2010 and 2009.
Songs must be submitted to RTE by October 31st, the singer and the songwriter must be from Ireland or have the relevant visas or citizenship to attend Eurosong 2015.
Michael Kealy, Executive Producer of Eurovision, told RTE that:
“Ireland has a track record at Eurovision which is second to none but finding a song and an artist who can perform at the biggest entertainment show in the world is not an easy task. This year we have decided to have an open selection process for Eurosong 2015 and we want to hear from the very best songwriters and performers who believe they have what it takes to compete at the highest level in Vienna next May.”
