United Kingdom: Song Submissions Open For 2015

The BBC has opened song submissions for Eurovision 2015, anyone can now submit a song to the BBC in the hope that they will represent the United Kingdom in Vienna. The BBC will however continue to select the song and artist behind closed doors. This is the first time since 2008 that a public call for songs and singers has been made.

To take part the following rules must be met:

• The song must not exceed 3 minute duration.
• All vocals must be performed live.
• No more than 6 people can take part in the performance
• The song must not have been publicly released before 1^st September; it should not have been performed in public or officially published on any media including but not limited to radio, TV and the Internet.
• The song cannot be a cover or sample another artist’s work.
• The song must be original with regards to song writing and musical instrumentation.
• The singer/s must be 18 years or older.
• Composers and song writers may only submit one entry.

The BBC will continue to work with music labels and BBC Introducing to help find the artist for Eurovision 2015, but want to ensure that anyone who wants to take part to have a chance, Guy Freeman said in the official announcement that:

We’re keen to provide as many routes into the selection process as possible, whilst remaining realistic about the proven amount of experience required by anyone wishing to put themselves forward.

The 2015 participant will be selected by a panel of music industry professionals, with the UK public having no say in who represents them in Vienna. The United Kingdom has not had a televised national final since 2010 when Josh Dubovie was selected to represent the UK with “That Sounds Good To Me”.
