does this mean russia are leaving esc?
Oh, I hope not 🙁
No it doesn’t. Take for example Turkvizyon, many ESC countries took part in that and ESC.
yeah but the host of turkvizyon didn’t, because turkvizyon was a protest…
Wait, the logo gives the location as “Russia, Crimea, Yalta” – so stating that Crimea is part of Russia? Surely they won’t be able to get many other participants to take part if that’s where they’re holding it, as barely any (if any?) of the other CIS states recognise Crimea as Russian
Also the 5 Stars contest has been held at least once before, in 2008, I seem to remember Tajikistan won.
Yep Tajikistan won in 2008 – there’s a list of the participants in the 2008 contest (in Russian only) at http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%BA%D1%83%D1%80%D1%81_%D0%BF%D0%B5%D1%81%D0%BD%D0%B8_%D0%98%D0%BD%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B5
