Deputies at the State Council for Tatarstan have supported Kazan hosting Türkvizyon 2014. The event is seen by the Republic as another stepping stone after hosting Universiade 2013.
The preliminary budget for the contest has been set at $4 million, which is the same cost as the inaugural contest held in Turkey last December. The contest is viewed by Marat Khayrullin (Deputy at the State Council for Tatarstan) as a way of not only growing in Cultural importance but also economically;
From an economic point of view, I am sure Deputy Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan, economy, investment and entrepreneurship, the competition will help manufacturers of Tatarstan to open new markets for goods
Mr Khayrullin also put emphasis on the impact for Tatar artists, who would be exposed to a music market of over 200 million people.
As the Cultural Capital of the Turkic world for 2014, Kazan will be holding a number of events through out the year with Türkvizyon being the highlight. The date of the contest has yet to be confirmed, however they are planning for it to be held in late November or December.
The channel in charge of hosting this years contest Maidan TV have however raised concern about funding the contest to the tune of $4 million. Damir Davletshin head of Maidan TV has said that they need to get advertisers on board a number of months before the contest to make sure the contest is financially viable.
A final decision on whether the contest will be held in Kazan is expected in the next month or so.
