It’s another Super Saturday (as fans are now referring to them) as three countries make their choice and one selection continues. We have three countries choosing: Estonia, Lithuania and Romania and one selection continuing: Sweden and their “Melodifestivalen”.
Here we have a breakdown of the shows on tonight:
Romania – Selectia Nationala – 19:30 CET.
Lithuania – Eurovizijos Final – 20:00 CET.
Estonia – Eesti Laul Final – 20:34 CET.
Sweden – Melodifestivalen Andra Chansen – 20:00 CET.
Romania will select its entry tonight via its selection “Selectia Nationala” in which Romania has always used as its selection process. It’s proven successful; Romania have never missed a final.

We see the return of Paula Seling and Ovi – Romania’s best placing entrants, coming 3rd in 2010 in Oslo.

Lithuania have already decided upon their song, but not their artist. In the last installment of the longest national final, Lithuania will select their artist. The song is “Attention”.

Eesti Laul, Estonia’s selection, concludes after two semi-finals and tonight’s final. Eesti Laul is a very successful selection, seeing Estonia through to almost every final since its introduction as Estonia’s selection in 2009. (Estonia missed out in 2010).

Probably the most anticipated and speculated national final is Melodifestivalen. It selects Sweden’s Eurovision participant. After four semi-finals, we have eight finalists, but it doesn’t stop there. There is an Andra Chansen round, where artists who missed out in their semi-final, but scored well, can attempt to make it into the final, thus bringing the final total to ten.

We see the return of the 2005 Greek representative and winner Helena Paparizou as she battles, this time, to represent Sweden.

Sweden:
A very strong second chance round in Sweden this week. There are 5 very good songs and 3 weak songs.

To the final:
– Helena Paparizou – Survivor (An amazing song and a fantastic singer. Much better than her winning entry “My number one” from 2005. This song should’ve qualified directly to the final from the 1st semi final without any doubt. Together with “Blame it on the disco” by Alcazar it’s my favorite song in Melodifestivalen 2014. This is actually the only song of the Eurovision 2014 season so far that I can see winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 if selected as the Swedish entry. This song oozes “Eurovision winner”.)
– J.E.M – Love trigger (Very good, modern and catchy song that should’ve qualified directly to the final from the 2nd semi-final instead of the weak entry by Panetoz.)
Eliminated:
– Ammotrack – Raise your hands (Weak rock song.)
– Ellinore Holmer – En himmelsk sång (Beautiful song and sweet singer.)
– Linus Svenning – Broder (A good song but I don’t like his voice at all and he can’t hit all the right notes. And like I said earlier: this song is going to get a lot of sympathy votes. And that’s something I don’t like at all. I think the song should stand on its own. If the song is strong enough it will reach it’s goal.)
– Martin Stenmarck – När änglarna går hem (Very good song and a very good singer.)
– Outtrigger – Echo (Pure noise and I don’t like noise at all! Deserved the last place in the 3rd heat.)
– State Of Drama – All we are (I didn’t like their entry “Falling” last year and I don’t like their entry this year. This sounds like it could be a song from the repertoire of One Direction. I’m not a fan of them, but even One Direction has better songs and at least they have charisma, the boys of State Of Drama don’t.)

Romania:
A very strong final in Romania. Many good songs. 10 songs out of these 12 would make a worthy entry for Romania in Copenhagen.
My favorites:
– Anca Florescu – Hearts collide
– Bere Gratis – Despre mine si ea
– Naomy – Daca tu iubesti
– Paula Seling & Ovi – Miracle (Good song, but I expected something just a little better. The chorus is a bit disappointing. Moreover, I find the song by Renee Santana feat. Mike Diamondz better. Paula & Ovi may be the favorites, but somehow I feel that they will not win and that they will not represent Romania)

The song “You know” by The Zuralia Orchestra is one big disaster. It mixes so many different styles that it really leads to nothing. It is incoherent. It sounds like four songs in one. Very annoying and tedious song. And “Hardjock” by Şăl is actually the Romanian version of the Moldovan Zdob şi Zdub. I didn’t like Zdob şi Zdub and I don’t like Şăl. I hope neither wins.

Estonia:
The quality of the songs in the Estonian selection in recent years is getting better and better. Their 3 last qualifications to the finals have clearly motivated and inspired Estonia to write and/or compose good songs for Eesti Laul 2014. So just like last year a very strong final in Estonia with 8 very good songs.
My big favorites:
– Brigita Murutar – Laule täis taevakaar (A very sweet and happy country pop song.)
– Kõrsikud – Tule ja jää
– Lenna – Supernoova (A good song but certainly not as strong as the song by Sandra.)
– Maiken – Siin või sealpool maad (A beautiful and understated ballad.)
– Norman Salumäe – Search
– Sandra Nurmsalu – Kui tuuled pöörduvad (My ultimate favorite. A beautiful, happy and charming Disney song. I’m not a big fan of “Rändajad” by Urban Symphony but I find this song amazing. I really hope Sandra wins.)
– Tanja – Amazing (Very good and strong dance song.)
– Traffic – Für Elise
I really hope that “Maybe maybe” by Super Hot Cosmos Blues Band (terrible song and annoying, boring and ugly voice of the lead singer) and “Resignal” (borig song) by Wilhelm don’t win.
Hopefully the Estonians will send a masterpiece to Eurovision again as they did the last 2 years.
