It is our pleasure today to be bringing you an exclusive interview with Azerbaijan’s Junior Eurovision 2013 entrant Rustam Karimov. He will be performing second on Saturday night with the song “Me and my guitar”. So here is our interview with Rustam.
Rustam, first off you are the youngest act in this years’ Junior Eurovision, is it intimidating, or is just fun?
Hi Eurovoix readers! Participating at Junior Eurovision Song Contest is a lot of fun!
When your song was revealed, everybody noticed your smile in the video, what is it that makes you so happy?
Doing the things I like the most make me happy. I love music, playing drums, singing. I like roller skating. I love my song, and that is also making me happy.
You arrived in Kiev on the weekend, how has it been so far?
As off Monday, the days have been quite busy here in Kiev. On Monday the postcard you are going to see before my performance was shot. During the Opening Party the running order of the contest was decided. I am singing the second on Saturday. Do not miss it!
Your song “Me and my guitar” what is it about?
I would say it is a song about me – a guy who loves music and his guitar much more than school.
What is it like meeting all of the other participants?
It is a great opportunity to make new friends. The other participants are really friendly. I have made friends with San Marino, Belarus, Sweden, Russia and some more.
What is the one thing you are looking forward to most this week?
It definitely is the experience. Besides giving a good performance and enjoying the events here in Kiev, I would like to gain the experience because we get to work with professionals from so many countries here. It is my first vocal competition.
